please explain to me whats so exciting about the PBK chair

When i first heard of it, i pictured it as a portable high chair type thing, which i guess could be useful. But then I looked it up online, and it's a stuffed little chair, yes???

what's so exciting about it? and why do i need one? or is this a trend like that stupid sofie?

please enlighten me.

  • I think the seats are cute, but don't have one. And I thought sophie was total crap UNTIL i broke down and got one on sale and LO LOVES LOVES LOVES it. It's the only teether she'll use.

  • It's a trend, like the stupid sophie.

However, I have a sophie because I could have it shipped here. I'm very happy I can't ship a stupid chair.

  • I have a $25 vinyl bean bag chair for my DD from walmart.  She LOVES it, just like people's kids LOVE their crazy overpriced pottery chairs, except that when she was potty training or if she falls asleep in it and wets, it is much easier to clean.  I won't feel bad getting rid of it when she outgrows it because it was the best $25 I ever spent.  It also looks nice with the brown leather sofa we have.
  • To me it's just another piece of junk to clutter the living room.  DS likes our couch just fine lol.

  • Overpriced piece of "trendy" junk just like Sophie. Target & Walmart have similar chairs for like $20, if that's a style you like. Otherwise, let's be honest, how many toddlers do YOU know, who are going to sit in a chair like that (or any "decorative" chair for that matter) for any extended period of time (more than 5 minutes)?

    Yah.

  • Plain and simple, kids like sitting in little chairs.  We aren't planning on getting a PBK Anywhere chair, but probably a bean bag or other little chair instead... and probably not until he's more like 1 1/2 or 2.  And while pp think that no toddler would sit in it, I know many kids IRL that love their little chairs and prefer to sit there instead of on the big couch.  Even now, DS will climb up and sit on this folded exercise mat and play instead of climbing onto the couch to sit.

  • DD loves hers and will actually sit in it for long periods of time. She also uses it while cruising around the living room, she think it's fun to flop into it, and she doesn't get hurt if she falls off of it (unlike the couch.) Grandma thinks she needs one at her house and is getting her another one for Christmas.
  • Am I the only one with a child who doesn't sit anywhere for a "long period of time"? Or, hell, even a short period of time?

As I said -- a stupid trendy chair. If you think your kid will sit somewhere for a "long period of time" (never say never, right?) get a cheaper version at target or walmart. PB is overpriced, period. My mother is an interior designer and can get the exact same furniture for her clients but for a fraction of the price because it's not being sold out of the PB showroom.

wow. apparently you are really angry about this chair! If people want to buy it ... its their choice. No reason to get pissed about it!!!

ps...sophie was one of the best toys I ever purchased. DD still is obsessed with hers after 5 months.

I'm not angry. I could care less if someone wants to waste their money. The OP asked opinions and I have given mine.

  • We have one. I got the insert on eBay and the cover on sale as well.  Ended up slightly more expensive than the ones from Target or Walmart but my 15 month old son loves his chair and he will sit in it but like pp said not for any extended periods of time.
