We took the plunge on a play kitchen....and a Big Lots Rave

I couldnt pass up the deal at Big Lots today. I believe either Hughes or Shall posted about it earlier in the week.  It was only $35.  Not too shabby - I found it retails in some of the regular stores for $79.99.  I figure if we hate it we didnt spend too much on it and I can probably resell on Craigslist for what I paid for it.  They had another kitchen that was green/beige no name brand for $35 as well.

Ummm...Im going back to Big Lots for toys -- a Mr. Potato Head set of 3 heads, tons of faces, etc $15!  Toddler basketball goal $25.  Lots of stuff in the 5-10 range.  I have never been there for toys, but I will be going back.

Oh - they also had Gerber Graduates meals - $1.00 (normally around 2.50 each!) Tons of name brand wipes, pacis, etc.  I was pretty impressed considering...its Big Lots!

  • Yep--I posted that last week. Glad you snagged it!

Yeah, I've found a lot of baby items at BL, and ditto--they have great toys! Not bad in the holiday decoration department either!

  • Oh Ill be going back and Ill have to check out the decorations -- we had a few minutes of time to spare and Alex was conked out in his carseat so I just ran in while DH stayed in the car.  Thanks for the tip!
  • Awesome! I'm sure alex will love it. Big Lots is great if you live near a nice one. That's where we got our video monitor so cheap. Just be careful about things like wipes. We got some and they were pretty dried out. But yay for all the cheap toys!

  • Toads I got DS the little tykes kitchen too at big lots this morning...i dont plan to put batteries in it till he gets a lil older. target has a general mills pack of food for like 10 bucks and i plan to get something like that for him to use with the kitchen for now until he understands how the cutting of the food with the velcro works....i think its a great kitchen to grown with. and their other deals are great too!!

  • Careful with the food from big lots...it is often close to the expiry or sometimes even expired (at least at the store where I live).   So just check it before you get it!

I got some really cute holiday decorations there last weekend!  Our store has a crappy toy and baby selection...wish it was better.   They do seem to have good prices on huggies though!

Everything I bought food wise yesterday doesnt expire until 11/2010 and beyond.  It will be long gone by then.

Oh and yeah - I was reading some reviews last night on the talking parts -- its kind of mixed reviews so Ill probably leave the batteries out as well.  I didnt necessarly want a talking kitchen but hey....for the price you cant complain.
