2nd Trimester

Anyone else getting more headaches?

I'm 14w6days and the last week or so I have been getting headaches almost everyday. I really hate taking meds while pregnant, even tylenol. I was at the doc the other day but so rushed I forgot to ask.

Re: Anyone else getting more headaches?

  • I did at 14 weeks, nearly every time I woke up. The midwife told me they were normal and they'd eventually subside. *knock on wood* they went away around 20 weeks.

  • yeah i did and still do. i get the worst sinus headaches. it could be your sinuses.
  • Headaches are a normal sign of pregnancy. Your blood volume is increasing which exerts extra pressure and causes headaches

  • Oh god yeah. I swear I get headaches everyday. I am used to it though because I have always gotten migraines.

This is me exactly.  I have always been headache prone but as my pregnancy progesses they are getting worse.  I had my appt yesterday and asked my dr about the tylenol.  I was feeling guilty bc I seem to take it almost daily.  She said it's fine.  Tylenol is safe.  Of course there are dangers of taking any pain reliever daily (not pregnancy realted).  I also find that caffeine helps as well and she said that is fine too.  She suggested trying the caffeine first and if that doesn't help take the tylenol.  She said they should start to get better soon (I am just over 15 weeks).

    Hope they get better! GL!

  • Most of the headaches I get are sinus related since I am conjested each and every day...however I have noticed that this week they have started getting worse :(
  • I just asked my doctor yesterday.  He said I was at the "headache" stage and a couple a week are normal.  He said if I get one where I need to sit in the dark with a cold compress on my head then I should come in.

He said it was fine to take tylenol...but each doctor is different.  You could probable just call and ask one of the nurses.

  • it could also be a sign of dehydration.  (Think: hangover).
  • I never ever ever had headaches until recently.  Saturday I had my 2nd migraine ever and since then I've had a headache off and on.  I've also been dehydrated though so I'm trying to drink up before the big meal.

  • I was getting them daily for the first little while- turned out it was my sinuses. I started useing a Neti-Pot and it has gotten alot better.

  • Have you tried drinking more water?  It's usually a sign of dehydration.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • Yeah, I had them pretty much every day around then. I still get them now but not as bad or as frequently, but I've had friends tell me they had them throughout their whole pregnancy.
