I find myself trying to come up with answers as to why this happened, even though I will never really know. I stopped taking the mini-pill at the beginning of July and got pregnant around July 21. I had not a had AF for 2 years due to pregnancy with DS and bfing. I continued to bf DS throughout this pregnancy. Could these things have impacted the viability of this pregnancy? Can low progesterone levels cause a m/c? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I am so worried about another pregnancy and another m/c.
Re: Could this be why?
I am so, so sorry for your loss. I don't have the answer, but I think it really, really, REALLY unlikely. The sad truth is one in four pregnancies will end in a miscarriage or loss. The math just sucks that way.
You should ask your doctor, just for your own peace of mind. Yes, low prog. can be a factor in m/c and it might be something they want to monitor you for next time around.
But you DID NOT cause this to happen, this is not your fault in any way. People who are bf do become pregnant and go on to deliver. I think it is probable that this "just happened." That is far from a comforting thought, I know, but please understand that this is NOT your fault.
I am very sorry for your loss. {{hugs}}
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine anything you did or didn't do would have contributed to your loss. As to the progesterone, the debate is ongoing. I know many ladies who have used the progesterone supps but sadly still go on to lose the pregnancy.
The statistics suck when it comes to miscarriages and there's nothing NOTHING that you did that made this happen. It's just an awful thing that happened to you and I am sorry.
I c&p an article about progesterone. (I do realize, it's from the internet, but it does sum up well everything that I've read so far)
Right now, no medical organizations recommend supplementing progesterone in women with luteal phase issues or recurrent miscarriages, except in women using reproductive technologies such as IVF.
No scientific studies have found definitive evidence that progesterone supplements prevent miscarriage in women who are not using artificial reproduction methods. Most studies find no difference in miscarriage rates when comparing women who took progesterone supplements to women who did not.
A few studies have found evidence that taking progesterone supplements might benefit women who have had recurrent miscarriages, but right now the numbers are too small to say whether or not the findings are significant. More research needs to be done before doctors will know whether or not the supplements are beneficial.

Thank you for this. Not having any answers has been the hardest part, and I guess I am just looking for one to have some closure. I guess it will just take time.
That's the hardest part for me. I think the crappy part is that we're not going to get answers. There are no answers, and you've had 3 miscarriages (I hate saying "you had a m/c"), doctors typically don't even look at it as abnormal or something that needs attention.
I know what you mean. A few days after my D/E, my midwife called and even said, "we see this all the time." It sucks.
I meant to say "UNTIL you've had 3 miscarriages..."
Erg- I've had so many grammatical errors on msg boards and FB the last few days. I think my brain is just in a fog.
