  • Thanks for asking about this!!!  I've never heard of it.  Maybe it's something I need to check my uterus.  I have either a Bicornuate or Septate Uterus.

  • No, this is not to assist a viable pg.   I am certainly not pg.  Thanks for both responses.  The link about the procedure was very helpful.

    Thanks again.

  • I had one of these during my RE's regular workup. It wasn't bad at all. A pinch like a pap and some minor cramping, but that's it.

Any reason they're doing a saline ultrasound instead of a HSG? It's my understanding that saline doesn't check your tubes for blockages, just the general health of the ute.

  • Here is the information from my nurse if anyone else wanted the information as well.  The ss checks the integrity of the cavity, which is always prudent after a loss and especially after a surgical procedure such as a D&C.  It would not need to be repeated.  The results are usually good for up to about a year, as long as you have not experienced a pregnancy, surgery, etc.  It is nowhere near as uncomfortable as an HSG.  I would suggest taking Motrin about 30 minutes before as you will experience some cramping for a very short time but again, patients consistently say it is nothing like the hsg.

    Thanks again.

  • Thank you very much for the link:)!

I already had a HSG (to remove blockage in one tube)....and now the dr. is checking my ute since it is the first and only examination since my m/c...so that is why the RE is doing a saline sonogram.  Thanks.
