I just invited DH's Grandma to come with us to my parent's for Thanksgiving. Her son lives far away and will be visiting this weekend. DH's mom is being a total jerk and didn't invite her own mother to Thanksgiving. I felt really bad so DH and I decided to take her with us. She is a little on the strange side (she thinks everyone is on drugs), but that doesn't mean she should be alone on a holiday. I know MIL is going to be mad, but Grandma sounded so happy and surprised that she got the invite. Someone please tell me I did the right thing even though it'll probably cause WWIII. Oh - the dinners are at totally different times too so she could still go to both of MIL invited her. I'm just waiting for the backlash tomorrow.
Re: I think I'm going to be in trouble
I think you absolutely did the right thing. Screw what everyone else thinks. That was really sweet of you.
ETA: Who doesn't invite their own mother to Thanksgiving?!
Exactly!
Oh, sure, absolutely the right thing!
My parents tend to pick up strays for Thanksgiving... we have random people there all the time!
