Should I call my doc tommorow? (TMI)

Here's my situation. I delivered 2 weeks ago...rough delievery. I pushed for 4 hours, tore and then ended up with a c-section. Ever since I have come home from the hospital I have been suffering horribly from bowel problems. I barely eat and when I do I get really crampy and tend to have loose stools/incontinence. It is embarrassing! I am 29 years old and I have pooped myself 3 times!

It is really starting to interfere with my life. I am afraid to eat and/or leave the house because it strikes without warning. For example, tonight I was feeding the baby and BAM!  It's not like I can just throw the kid down to rush to the bathroom. I have anxiety already about Thanksgiving...I am this close to buying depends to wear. My doctors appointment isn't until next Tues. but I am thinking about calling the office tomorrow just to see if she can offe any suggestions until then. My only dilemma is- how do I leave that message on the answering services VM?!

UGG. I am so mortified!Angry

  • I would just say that I needed to someone to give me a call to discuss some bowel issues that I was having.

  • If I were you I would call tomorrow and see if you can get in earlier.

Also, dont be mortified. Really. It's just what happens sometimes after giving birth.

  • Your symptoms sound similar to mine. I called and called my OB and was told it was "normal" ect. I finally went to the ER as my stomach pain was unbearable and I was getting dehydrated.

I was diagnosed with C.Diff. It is a bacterial intestinal illness that is common to catch in the hospital. After the first three days on antibiotics and I am getting better. The pooping is still a small issue, but getting better as well.

My point is that it could be a normal postpartum thing, or it could be something else. I would make sure you get seen ASAP and not wait. It is one thing to recover from a rough delivery, but to add this on top of it....

I am sorry you are dealing with this.

  • We live near eachother!! I used to teach in a neighboring town from you! Where did you deliver?
  • I'd just call and leave a message that you need to speak to the doctor about an issue.  I'm sure they'll still call you back.  GL!
