I don't know if it's just me, but the first few months I felt like I was nursing a cheese grater. Then, suddenly, it got better and I've nursed relatively pain free for the past year. It's never been a comfortable thing and I can't imagine sleeping while nursing - but the cuddles and closeness always win.
And then all of a sudden I've constantly have blisters or healing/cracking/bleeding going on. Right now BOTH of my nipples are hurting like I'm nursing a NB! What the heck man, I thought I already paid my dues! DS has had a mouth full of teeth forever so that's not the problem. He's not biting. It's just randomly happening. And I just wanted to whine somewhere where the only feedback wouldn't be to quit nursing, lol.
Re: Extended BFing whine
I've actually recently had bf'ing pain, and was surprised. It worked itself out, fortunately.
If I were you, I would call a lactation consultant, mw, or ob, and see if they can offer any suggestions. That doesn't sound right!
Sorry you are going through all of that
Ouch!
Any chance AF is returning? Or that you are pregnant? I know those can increase sensitivity. Although it almost sounds like your kiddo has changed his latch somehow.

AF has been back for a few months and I'm sure I'm not PG. I'd guess the latch has changed too but I can't see/feel any difference. Thank goodness that we are only AM/PM nursing so I can recover, but I just don't understand the recurring blisters.
