Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Suprised your child was taken, really?

I just saw on the news an Amber Alert from SC where a mother left her child in the car while it was running & went into the post office to drop a package off.  The child has been abducted.  I do hope the mother gets the child back safely but seriously wth was she thinking????????

  • I cannot imagine.  Yes, running errands with LOs can be stressful and tiring but I would never ever ever think of leaving them in the car.  And the baby is 1 month old:(
  • People are stupid.  That poor child.

  • Did they steal the car with the child in it?  This is the exact reason why it is against the law in the state of Washington to leave your child in the car alone.
  • Well, duh, if she lives in a small town where people dont even lock their doors then it's totally safe to leave your kid in the car.
  • Oh no, that's awful.  How old is the child?

The sad thing is, some people find this true.  On a different message board a mother thought it was perfectly fine to leave her son in her vehicle while she went in to get her DH beer because he had a hard day.  But she locked the doors, and lives in a small city.

I know. There is someone on another board who left her two kids in the car today to pay her mechanic. But it was ok because it's a small town and people know her name. Yeah. That stops car thieves.

  • Seriously, it only takes one time! Even in your drive way, someone can steal a car.  There are a few things I will not budge on and this is one of them.

VERY true.  actually happened to my friend.

she had a toddler and an infant and it was the dead of winter.  she got both bundled up and left her toddler on the screened in porch while she loaded the infant into the car which she had already started bc it was freezing.  she LITERALLY turned her back to the car to grab the toddler who was waiting by the porch door and someone jumped in the car and sped away with her baby. thank god they found the car like 10 minutes later and the baby was safe, but it just goes to show that it can happen so quickly, no matter how safe you believe you're being.

  • Not smart and I read it to DH and he said....

"Well, you never EXPECT your child to be taken... no matter what the circumstances.  The question is, how long was the line?"

    lol
