I probably won't. Diapers are a standard shower gift, so I don't think you need to tell people that you'd like to receive them. I've been to a few showers where on the invitation it says 'bring a pack of diapers and be entered to win a prize'.

UNLESS, you're going for cloth, then I say register for them. I plan to cloth, but not for the first few months, so I'm not registering for them. Plus I didn't want to hear my family/friends' comments about cloth diapers (because you know, they've all researched it like I have<---sarcastic tone)
I asked my mom what she thought about registering for diapers and wipes and having had four daughters already for whom she threw the showers, she said those items tend to be something that people will buy regardless if you've registered for them or not. So I'm not going to, since it's a necessity I'll just buy what I don't receive at my shower.
I did, but I might end up taking them off. (At least the diapers) I registered for 3 huge boxes of Stage 1, 2, and 3. I've already bought about 4 boxes of stage 1, and started buying stage 2's.
I didnt want to but I ended up doing it by the pressure of my sisters and some random lady that was with in the same aisle. I put Huggies Natural care unscented wipes and for diapers I have Huggies Newborn, size 1-2, size 3 and 4, I didnt want to register for them because I know they might not work out when she gets here as in rashes/leakage or whatever else but I was told at Wal-mart as long as the package isnt open you can exchange for any brand or something like that.
truthfully you will get diapers anyways. And honestly, you won't know what types of diapers work best for your LO until they are here. We started out with pampers, switched to Huggies bc pampers started exploding and are now back to pampers bc huggies started leaking.

i did, but my family lives on the east coast and in LA. so being in Washington state, it's just easier for them to "point and click." then search the sites for them.
I plan to register but I only for one or two types. Mainly for the people who want to buy diapers and wipes and this way they have an idea of what brand or type I like. This is coming from my experience with past women's baby shower. Some ppl were all flustered b/c they wanted to buy wipes and diapers and since the mommy hadn't registered for them they didn't know what type to purchase.
I didn't register for wipes but did for diapers because I wanted the pampers swaddlers, not any old brand and I figured if I put it on my registry people would know what brand/type I wanted.
I will be. I'm going to register for a few in a few different sizes and wipes. I just want to emphasize that diapers and wipes are our main necessity (we are getting a lot of hand-me-downs of the big ticket items) there isn't much we are going to need.

We're planning on cloth diapering too. I did register for them but am still buying a bunch myself. I don't plan to get them just based on the reactions and snide comments I've been getting every time I tell someone I plan to cloth diaper. What's wrong with people? Seriously!
I decided to register diapers because I was running out of ideas for things to register for and I am having three pretty large showers. I registered for Pampers Sensitive Skin Wipes, and Pampers Swaddlers in NB and size1 - 2 boxes of each.
My friends are throwing me a diaper shower. Once the host finds out who all is coming, she will do it according to the last names. For instance Last name A-B get newborn diapers, C-F... you just have to sit down and think how many of each size is appropriate. You don't need 10 friends bringing new borns and 2 bringing the next size.

We did because I want the Pamper Swaddlers. Selected 2 boxes of the Newborn large box and then 3 of stage 1. After stage 1 we might switch to something else so I would rather have the first few months taken care of. Plus some friends told me you do not want to get stuck with left over newborn diapers. So they recommened registering for the larger sizes.
I will be putting a note on my bru registry saying we are ping cloth and directing them to the sites I'm using. I know a few friends registered for 6th generation and put a note saying they'd prefer those products

I want to try out different diapers to find out what will work for LO.
