While moving my great aunt and uncle out of their apartment a few years ago, my uncle was adament that I receive his nativity. It's a large barn with all the figures that he collected many years ago and was apparently quite expensive. DH and I graciously accepted the gift and packed it away with the rest of our Christmas decor.
The day after Thanksgiving that year, while Tony was at work, I put out the nativity:

It really is beautiful. But, over time, my somewhat odd aunt and uncle managed to accumulate "extra" pieces. Take a closer look at the details:

Notice the ceramic angel rubber banded to the top of the barn. And the
large headed praying children. And the disproportionately small
Fisherprice-type sheep and cows. And the white plastic reindeer
ornament. And my personal favorite... the giant fawn. It's a PIGGY
BANK! There's a slot on it's back and a hole on the bottom! Is this
what happens in old age?
I set the entire thing up, extra pieces and all, and then called my mother to come see. It's been a huge source of comedy for the whole family, especially since my beloved uncle passed away earlier this year.
It will be coming out, as is, in a few short days.
