3rd Trimester

Elders - MP/discharge question

Totally random and weird question - I haven't lost my MP yet but I hear that some people don't lose it until they go into labor, etc.  However, what seems odd to me is that I haven't had anything going on down there the entire pregnancy - I've been dry the whole time - no increased discharge, etc.  I've been thankful for this but now am assuming it just means I'm still not dilated, etc. and wonder how "normal" this is?

Re: Elders - MP/discharge question

  • I've been wearing a pad since wk 20 because I'd have a tiny bit of moisture.  I never had the "snail trail" or anything like that.  I haven't lost my MP and am Zero dilated.

  • I could be wrong, but I don't think discharge has anything to do with dialation. You can loose you MP and not be dialated.

  • I'm pretty sure this is normal.  I have always been a "juicy" girl.  So I don't think there has been any increase there.  I still have my MP, and I have a Dr. appt tomorrow to see how things are progressing.  But, with DS things went from ZERO to baby in less than 3 hrs, so you never know.
  • I don't think discharge has anything to do w/ dialation either.  My discharge has increased steadily through out my pregnancy.. but as far as I know, muscus plug is still intact.

Yeah, I'm sure discharge and dilation are not always related although it seems possible they could be.  However, I was under the assumption that you had to be dilated to lose your MP so thats news to me...

  • I didn't notice losing my MP with pregnancy #1 at all.  I was 2 cm dilated at my last OB appt, didn't notice anything going on, and I only had a 4 hr labor with Ben.  And I had some pretty moderate discharge all pregnancy with Ben and with #2.
