If your LO does NOT STTN

How often and what time does your LO wake up to eat at night?

DD has been all over the place lately.  Ever since the time change and I came back to work her sleep has been going down hill.  She used to be up at 3am and 6am to eat but last night it was midnight and 4am - She didn't go back down until 5:20am this morning, and was then up every half hour.

I 'think' she is teething but who knows.

If your LO does sttn, that is awesome but I really don't want to hear about it right now Stick out tongue

She eats 5oz every 4 hours day and night.

Re: If your LO does NOT STTN

  • My DD goes to bed at about 8:30 pm, then gets up to eat anywhere between 1 and 3.  Then she eats again at about 7am.  She will sometimes sleep again after that until 9 or 10.

  • He gets up and wants a bottle every two hours without fail. As of late he has been up in between too. He never eats more than 2 oz. from a bottle during the night, so I think it is a sleep association. He eats 4-6 oz. every 2-4 hours during the day.
  • DS gets up anywhere from 1-5 to eat (most often b/w 1-3), then goes back down till 6:30ish.  This was after sleep training.  Before that he was getting up b/w 11-12, 2-4, and up for the day around 5, and often staying up during the earlier wakings for an hour or more.
  • Well she usually gets up around 12-2 for a bottle and then around 5-6 for another one. Sometimes she goes back to sleep after the morning bottle but this morning she was up. She started rolling over in her sleep so she will roll on her side or belly and startle herself and then start crying and it's been hard to get her back  to sleep. Always something. I have given up on the idea of her STTN and getting a good nights sleep.

Sounds like DS! Glad sleep traing helped some. I can't imagine doing this for too much longer.
  • I don't think DS will ever truly sleep through the night, so I feel your pain.

Most nights he goes down around 8, wakes between 2-3, and then wakes again at 7-7:30.

Many nights he'll throw an extra feeding in there around midnight. Last night was: sleep at 7:30, up at 11:45, up at 3:45, up for the day at 7:45. Luckily he does go back to sleep pretty effortlessly after he eats (KNOCK A LARGE PIECE OF WOOD).

He's EBF but I'm guessing it's about 4 or 5 ounces each time based on what I pump and what he takes at daycare.

  • he was doing so well a few weeks ago - sleeping from 8 to 3 or 4, but that stopped. last night he was up 4 times :(
  • DS usually goes down at 8, up between 12-1 then I feed him and again @ 4 and back to sleep till 7 or 8 depending on what day it is.  I haven't given up on STTN either :))

  • DS goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00. He is up to eat usually once a night, anywhere between 2:00 and 4:30.
  • ds has never had a consistent schedule but in general I would be put him down at 9ish and he would wake up once before getting up for the day around 6-7am.  This week has been really bad - he has been getting up at 3-4 instead of 6-7 and not going back down for 2 hours.  I am planning to talk to the dr. at his 4 mo. appt.  The pedi already told me to do it and I didn't yet - but I want to talk to the dr. before I do it to make sure I am doing it "right."  I don't think it's good for him to get this little sleep either.

i meant to write i'll talk to the pedi about sleep training

  • Goes to bed at 7:30/8:00

    Up at 1:30

    Up at 5

    Up at 8

  • I thought it was just me! I don't understand how some nights can be so good and easy and some make me want to sleep on the floor by his crib to save time. Sunday night, he was 8p-4a and then Daddy had to wake him up at 7:30a, but last night he was down by 8:30, up at 1:49a, up at 4:51a, and then I don't know because I went to work, but at 1:49 he sucked down 6 oz and at 4:51 he was fussing at it and barely got 4oz and then wiggled restlessly until I left for work. How it it was so inconsistant. Even nights he sleeps longer, I'm up waiting for him to wake up. We can't win.

This.  Last night DS went down around 7:45, then up to eat at 12:10, and then up again at 5:20, played for awhile, and ate and then asleep in his swing at 6:45am.  My mom is watching him today so he may still be sleeping for all I know.  He also goes down pretty effortlessly-I play white noise music in his room and I just lay him back down in his crib with a pacifier.  Sometimes he stirs and I stick the paci back in his mouth.  But FYI-this was an example of a VERY good night, some night he is up three times or so.

  • My LO can STTN but he doesn't do so consistently.

He has an odd schedule because my DH doesn't get home from work until 7:30 pm and we want him to spend time with DS.  Since I work for my family business, I take DS to work with me (hours 10 am to 6 pm) and we're not home until 6:30/6:45 pm.

DS may nap for an hour between 7:30 and 9:30 pm, but more often than not, he's awake. Probably overtired and overstimulated but I can't always get him to sleep.

We give him a bath every other night around 9-9:30 pm and he gets a bottle (5-6 oz) around 10 pm.  He'll fall asleep soon after and will either get up once?anytime between 1am and 3am for a 5 oz bottle?and wake up again around 6:30 to 7 am. He'll stay up for an hour and then naps for a bit before we leave for work at 9:30 am.

Or he'll STTN?from 10:30 to 7 am (then the same morning routine). I never know what he'll do.

Though there are times when he wakes up several times, but luckily they aren't too often.

  • DS used to be a 4am feeder but now we are going through a terrible phase, 3 weeks of erratic nights if any sleep at all. 2 nights ago (best night in a long time) he was up at 12 and 6:30am, tonight he was up at 12, 3 and 6am. I'm exhausted.
