So, I was wondering why my temps are all over the place and though that I just had a really weird body. After talking to a friend today that is also TTC, she told me that in fact my BBT was not malfunctioning, I was. I told her that it never beeped and she then advised me that I was not leaving it in long enough. Geeeeezzzz, how long do you have to leave it???
Now my temps are all messed up and I am worried that my chart won't be accurate this month. Do you think it is too late to just start using my BBT correctly or should I discard this months chart?
Thanks!
Re: I'm such an idiot....
You're on CD5. I usually don't start temping until 6-7. It'll be fine. And yes, you wait until it beeps just like you do for a regular thermometer. Seriously, it's not that hard.

You are only on CD5, I say you are fine to keep going with this chart.
lol That you are not leaving it in long enough.
The temps during AF wont matter as much. I woudn't worry about it. A lot of girls on here don't start temping until AF ends.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

I think you can discard the ones so far and start again. Because you're still in your AF, it shouldn't affect the overall pic too much.
HTH!
You?re fine b/c you?re only on CD 5. No need to throw away this chart. J
My BBT takes 3 minutes. I usually fall asleep after I put it in my mouth, but it wakes me up when it beeps.
TTC #1 since June 2009: irregular cycles
BFP 1/20/10, EDD 9/28/10, born 10/5/10
TTC #2 since Nov 2011:
BFP 2/8/12, MC @ 5 weeks; BFP 3/22/12, MC @ 5 1/2 weeks; BFP 9/10/12, MC @ 6 weeks
Started seeing RE Nov 2012. Chromosomal test and all other tests came back "normal". Unexplained MCs. Found mild hytpothyroidism. Two unmedicated cycles, both BFNs. First medicated cycle (clomid, ovidrel) 1/23/13. Low progesterone found during 9DPO P4 test = 7.6. Put on prometrium supplements.
BFP 2/16/13; 2/18/13 (13 dpo): Beta #1=52.8, progesterone=18.7; estrogen = 412; Dr. increased progesterone dosage.
2/21/13 (16 dpo): Beta #2 = 269; progesterone = 32.4
2/25/13 (20 dpo): Beta #3 = 1,236
2/28/13 (23 dpo): Beta #4 = ?? tbd
I leave it in for about 3 or 4 minutes and it never beeps, so I assumed that it wasn't supposed to. Then my friend told me that BBT's are different than regular ones in that it looks for a constant temp before completing....huh, learn something new every day.
Thanks for the input on not discarding. I will wait for the beep tomorrow am!
Too funny!

If it's not beeping after 3-4 mins then I think you need a new one. Go buy a new one at Target or Walgreens, wherever. Since it's so early on it won't mess with anything. Like a pp said, just discard what you've got so far and start with a new therm tomorrow.

OK, one last question. When you say disgard what I have done so far, do you mean erase the info from FF or just don't pay attention to it?
Thanks for the patience with my silly newbie questions.
Where you enter your temp, right beside that is a little box that says "discard." Just do that for all the temps you currently have in there so far.
