So the very first thing that DS liked to play with when he was a newborn was the squeaky elephant that came on his bouncer. He didn't care about the alligator or whatever the other thing was, just the elephant. He still gets a kick out of it when he finds it.
So last night he was playing with it and DH goes "he's always loved that elephant. We should put it on the tree as his first ornament." I thought this was a stroke of genius! It already has a loop on it, and it is truly something that I know will always have meaning to us when we see it. It makes me warm and fuzzy thinking about it! Lame, I know.
So what is your LOs first ornament?
Re: My DH might be a genius: Baby's first ornament
that is an awesome idea. way to go judahsdaddy!
a friend of mine sent timmy a baby's 1st christmas ornament, but now i might try to come up w/something more personal!
Awwww that's perfect!!!! K's favorite was the parrot...we may totally be stealing this idea!
I finally got her a precious moments ornament in the other day.
That is a great idea! You do have a pretty smart DH there. I'm going to have to think about this one and try to find Nicholas' first ornament.
ETA: My Mom and grandmother actually sent an official ornament last year for baby's 1st Christmas and they'll send one every year. I'm thinking about the sentimental idea like Judah'sDaddy did though. I'll have to find something of Nicholas' that he loved as a baby and try to hang that.
Since Joseph was due Christmas Day, we bought several ornaments in anticipation of him coming in time for Christmas, which he didn't.
My favorite is a snowman with pale blue hat and mittens, with his full name written on the front. We came back after he was born and they put in his birthdate underneath.
We also got a Baby's 1st Xmas ornament from our trip to Disney when he was 4m. And one from the Dells when we stopped on the way home from my grandma's. And one from our favorite little shop after we went to dinner with my mom one day, a Christopher Radko teddy bear with blue booties.
Yeah, I feel like an ass for not having gotten one last Christmas. But J was only 2 months old and I was still getting an hour of sleep a night. I was in a fog.
What a great idea! We had one made for DS it's a giraffe w/his date of birth and of course says something about baby's first christmas.
I started a tradition w/DD when she was born. Every year she's gotten a ornament (sometimes 2 or 3) and that way when she does move out on your own she'll already have plenty of ornaments for her 1st tree. I plan on doing the same for DS.
