We got the call this afternoon that BM wants to match with us and of course we agreed! :-) We are so happy and excited! We only have two months to get everything ready!!! Family and friends already want to start planning baby showers and with the holidays coming up my heads spinning!
So now that we are in the matched phase of the adoption process anyone have any recommendations for we should be doing? Our agency will be contacting the attorney so they can start the paperwork going. But I'm kind of like, what's next?
Thank you ladies for all your well wishes!!
Re: It's official! We're matched :-)
congrats!!!!!!!! I'm so excited for you!
I have no advice!
What great news, just in time for Thanksgiving! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Yeah--congratulations! What a nice early Christmas present!
Not much to do now other than get ready for a baby, LOL. If you'll have an open adoption, do some reading about that. If that's the route you choose, spend some time getting to know the birth mom. We met with our birth mom and her family several times and had honest discussions about what we wanted the adoption agreement to look like.
We took a basic baby care & CPR class--helpful.
Baby showers are an individual decision. I didn't feel comfortable having one until after the baby was born, placed, and officially ours. It just would have been too hard to have all of the sweet gifts if the adoption didn't work out. I will say, our meet-the-baby showers were so much fun and we were on cloud nine. Regardless, register!!!! Some people may want to shop early. To that I say, rock on!!
Finally--relax & enjoy! (and sleep!)
Congratulations I am excited but what I am going to say is try to keep a level head. Our match fell through 8 hours before we were suppose to pick the baby up and we had such an emotional roller coaster. we had one shower and it was so hard to tell people thank you but the use of the items will have to wait. So have a gaurded heart. Go forward with it like it will happened because you have to otherwise when the baby comes you will have nothing ready but just keep in the back of your mind that it is not over till papers are done. I am sorry I dont want to be a downer thats not my attempt here. I was just devistated and hope that none has to feel the way I did. So be positive and excited but keep grounded with small doses of reality.
Congrats again and good luck with the rollercoaster ride you are about to take
WOOOO HOOOOOO! Congrats!
During the wait til birth I emailed and talked with the emom quite a bit. I daydreamed and window shopped too.
We had a shower about a week before the birth when we felt like IT was going to happen but I always kept it in the back of my mind that it might also fall through. It was a rollercoaster of emotions!
I did a bunch of research about adding baby to insurance policy, family leave for work etc....
Congrats again! Breathe and rejoice!
I'm so excited for you. Just enjoy it right now and get ready for the baby. I mean you've got two whole months...LOL! (with Ben we had 24 hours..;o)
Like pp have said, just keep thinking positive thoughts. I'm praying for you.
Wonderful News!!! Congratulations!!!
Fantastic news, Congratulations!!
Take time to celebrate and let it soak in. Spend some time with your BM if that's in her plan. Journal a lot: about your feelings, about your BM, about everything.
Talk to you agency and see if they need anything from you between now and birth. Find a pediatrician if you haven't yet. If you'll be needing a daycare start looking and getting on wait lists. Talk to your employers and your insurance.
Most of all, take a deep breathe and ENJOY!
PAL/PGAL Welcome
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
