Babies: 0 - 3 Months

crying all freakin day

Can anyone tell me what reason my LO would have to cry the entire day????? I mean the whole day.  ANd he only slept maybe 3 hours all day.

I am at my wits end.  I have tried everything, rocking, changing him, gripe water, bicycle with his legs, dancing with him, wearing him in the bjorn, the swing, feeding him.  It is making me want to cry.

  • Did you try the 5 S's? It's the only thing that worked for me.

    Google "5 S's Happiest Baby"

  • Can't tell you why but a few tricks we did were:

Running the bath, the sound of running water calmed T down right away.

And putting LO in the middle of a large blanket, then you and DH (or anyone else) grab the corners, pick up the blanket, and gently swing LO back and forth.  I think this move is in Happiest baby on the block. But I learned it in baby yoga and loved it.  Gives you and DH a chance to talk and catch up on the day and for some reason calms baby.

Try reading HBOTB for the 4 or 5 S's.  Can't remember them all, but they worked some times too.

  • Well not the whole day. He was sleeping for 3 hours sillyyy

  • Thank you, I have the Happiest Baby on the Block and it works sometimes.  Shushing usually works to calm him down for a few minutes then it is back to crying.  Swaddling also works at times.  They all work at times, but today has been crazy.  I will see what I can do!

Shushing works great for us but I have to keep it up. My lips go numb from it but combined with rocking it eventually chills LO out and he'll go to sleep.

Also I get really close to LO's ear when I'm shushing. It seems like it would be really loud but the closer I am the better it seems to work. I learned that from my best friend who has 17 nieces and nephews. She swears by it.

  • im so sorry. my baby had colic and was like this. it was terrible for awhile but we got through it.
  • Is he pulling away/arching his back when eating? Does he spit up a lot? If he doesn't, can you see it in his mouth at all after eating? Does burping or hiccuping seem to hurt? If any of these are yes, he could have reflux. That's exactly how life with DD was before we got her on Prevacid. Now....peace. Hang in there!
  • Have you tried driving around the block?
