Formula Feeders come in please!

DD started out on Similac Advanced Early Sheild, but seemed to be having really bad gas.  The pedi gave us a sample of enfamil gentlease and nestle goodstart protect plus to try.  We have tried the nestle goodstart and noticed that she has now started to spit up about once-twice a day.  Does anyone else have a suggestion for formula that is easy on LO's tummy, but won't make them spit up?  TIA

Re: Formula Feeders come in please!

  • I wanted to stay with Similac brand so the doctor recommended Similac Sensitive (in an orange top container) and DD has done wonders on it.  She likes the taste and it is definitely less harsh on the tummy.

  • Everybody's LO spits up.

If you find it that your LO spits up a ton, then maybe you should talk to the pedi about that. But once or twice a day isn't bad at all.

I know that all LO's will spit, but she was never doing this on the similac, it just gave her bad gas and we were up ALL night long!  The goodstart has been better on her tummy, but I was hoping to find a happy medium.  Something that was easy on the tummy, but didn't cause her to spit up so much!

Thanks for your suggestions ladies!  I will call the pedi tomorrow to ask about the similac sensitive!

  • FYI, our LO had really bad gas until we switched to Playtex drop-ins. Those bottles work wonders!

We use Nestle GoodStart (in the orange can) and DD doesn't seem to spit up that much. Now we were having gas issues and we changed to Dr. Brown's bottle. Those worked better then the Avent bottles and Medela. Good luck!

  • It may not be the formula making your LO spit up.  I know you said LO never did before...but, its still early and lots of changes.

I will say, my AJ had the same exact problem you described.  I changed to sensitive and now am on Emfimil gasease.  He has a little spit up, but not much.  But when he was only a few weeks old, he did not take the powder at all, threw it all up.  I found shaking it better and only going an once at a time to work.

     Good luck
