I'm getting DS circ'd tomorrow morning. But to make it better DH and I are going to be in the room with him so we can sooth him and we can nurse as soon as they are done.
I feel badly for doing it, but at the same time everyone in our family is, and I don't want him to feel different. Plus DH wants it done.
Re: I feel like a bad AP mommy
Its not? I honestly thought AP was against circ'ing.
Our insurance was funny about it, they wouldn't pay in hospital. and our pedi doesn't do it, they refer out, so this was the soonest we could do it
AP doesn't take an official stand. You have to do what is right for you and as long as you have weighed the benefits and the risks and are comfortable with the procedure, that's what matters.
For us we decided that in the end it doesn't matter if he looks like everyone else or not...because he really won't look like everyone else anyway. Some people have curly hair, some people have blue eyes and everybody looks different in one way or another. Just my 2 cents.
GL tomorrow, hopefully all goes well.
As for making him feel normal, circ'ing is no longer the norm. I heard only 40% of babies are and the numbers are dropping.
Im glad I dont have boys
