Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Blighted Ovum???

Went to the dr today for my first appointment and they saw a sac but no baby. I miscarried in may and now I guess it will happen again. I have to go back next week to make sure. Anyone have any experience with this? If so did you miscarry naturally or did you get a d&c? Id rather it happen the regular way. I have 2 children and had 2 healthy pregnancy's. Then my last 2 have ended in miscarriage, I just dont understand this.

Re: Blighted Ovum???

  • I am so sorry for your loss.  I had a blighted ovum and had a D&C at 8w 5d so I understand the pain.  The crappy thing is no one know who will miscarry or when.  If you want another baby I totally believe you will have one and hopefully no more crap luck! I chose the D&C because for me, I would have been anxious for the miscarriage to hurry up and happen, and it could have been another month of waiting.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  I had a D&C because it was not happening naturally and I needed it be over, so I could begin to heal both physically and emotionally.  Best wishes to you.

  • I'm sorry for your losses.

I too have 2 children with uneventful pregnancies and then this year I had a blighted ovum, a miscarriage, and a chemical pregnancy.

With my BO, I miscarriaged naturally at 7w3d (measured 6w3d).  With the second miscarriage, I was not miscarrying on my own yet at 10w5d so we induced with cytotec.  It was a good alternative to a D&C for me.  Both my doctor and I preferred it.

  • i'm so sorry...I just found out i'm probably having my 2nd blighted ovum. wtf? i have no idea why. i can't believe this. my doctor said that they don't know why it happens, but it is probably chromosomal so she had dh and i get blood taken for genetics work.

  • I have a history of early loss and it never gets any easier.  I had a BO in December of 2008 that I m/c naturally.  We aren't sure how far along I was because I had just quit BFing 2 weeks prior to getting my BFP and hadn't had an AF.

Then I had another BO in Feb. 2009 that wasn't happening naturally so I opted for misoprostol to induce the m/c at almost 10 weeks. .  I have had 2 D&Cs previously and I would much prefer to m/c naturally or if that doesn't happen to use the chemical m/c again.

I am sorry for your losses.
