Is there a forward-facing legs-out Moby position?

I like to use the lotus hold with ds while we're at home but I don't think he loves having his legs restrained all the time.  I tried putting his legs through the panel like they are in the hug hold but I'm not so sure about that considering his butt isn't there to support it in the forward-facing position.  Is there a way you can do that with the Moby or is there another carrier that works better for such a thing?

  • Well, with any forward facing carry the legs are going to dangle bc they can't be in the "correct" position.  That said, we did the forward facing hug hold all the time when he was little and HATED facing in.  I think the moby worked better than others because you could pull the fabric out and around their bottoms more for as much support as possible.

  • My little one was similar at that age -- didn't want her legs restrained, wanted to face outward.  She didn't have the head control for the facing forward, legs out Moby position until about 3 months (eariler than Moby recommends, which is 4 months).  For about a month prior to that, I sometimes did it anyway but would support her head myself, because she enjoyed it.  That didn't have all the benefits of using the Moby (obviously my hands were not both free), but it still made it easier to hold her as much as she wanted to be held.  My arms were wimpy back then.

That's what I'm looking for but now I thought that the panels were supposed to be spread to the hollows of their knees?
