Oh FSS! RE: My Assistant

For all of you who have been LOLing at my assistant rants on here, here is the latest update. As of last week I'd had it with her. Seriously had it! I met with my boss and filled him in on everything and asked that she either be replaced, reasigned or that he just keep her out of my way for the next few weeks.

He just came in to my office saying that he talked to her on friday afternoon and she busted out crying. She's going through a divorce, she's failing her classes at school, she's late because she can't sleep at night yet she has time to stop by starbucks because if she doesnt she'll get bad heachaches....wow.  Anyways, he said he was all kinds of uncomfortable and felt bad for her and asked me to "take it easier' on her. Fab. I get to be annoyed quietly now.

  • I'm feeling as though I would have LOLed at your rants but I've missed them.  And now I'm just amazed at how many excuses one can come up with at one time.

  • Forgive me, I watch MTV.

You must be Erin Kaplan with Olivia Palermo as your assistant...

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • well, if she isn't sleeping, then she can leave the damn house earlier. i guess i feel for her, but i roll my eyes at your boss.

  • ick!  Life is hard.  Get used to it!  I hate when people are perpetual victims and don't do anything to make their situation better.  I hope she gets over her pity party soon for your sake.  Don't get me wrong...I'm not heartless and I know that stuff like divorce is way hard.  That's when you drop your classes, get some rest, some counseling, and make your coffee when you get to the office in the morning.
  • You weren't even making a big deal out of it like I would have to begin with. That sucks for you! I guess she needs the Starbucks because she isn't sleeping. That still doesn't explain the bathroom conversations. Love the new siggy BTW

  • I've missed your rants, but how do you know she isn't going through a hard time?      Maybe you are being overly hard on her.
  • The divorce is not huge, I'm irritated she brought it up to my boss. She is 23, got married in Vegas on a whim 2 yrs ago. They never lived together/dated they are only now legally divorcing. She has only seen him a few times since they got married. She's not sleeping because she's out partying every night, she's failing because she could care less about school, or work, or responsibility in general.

ugh!! Back to meetings in the bathroom with her I guess.

Ahh, I see.   I stand corrected then.

  • How annoying.  I have a paralegal I know is riding roughshod over the whole office while I am away.  It took me 2 years to get her to come in on time and I was only one step away from having her terminated.  (Unionized so there are like 7 warnings before termination.)

I hate when bosses are wimps.  Mine wants the office running smoothly with all the other attys happy but I can't discipline as needed.
