Pic cards or newsletters?

Ok... I need help. I've always thought that those holiday newsletters are extremely annoying, and basically a free for all to attention whore yourself and your family out. But - I didn't have a kid back then and am now understanding the lure behind it.

Should we just do photo cards for Christmas or the whole Christmas newsletter thing or.............................. BOTH?!?!

TIA!

  • My sister and some of my family do the newsletter thing. It drives me crazy. We get about eight a year and I never ready any of them. We are doing the bifold christmas cards with a couple pics of DS and one of all three of us. The people that I want knowing what goes on in our lives on a day to day basis already do because we see them a lot.

  • I'm just doing the photo cards.  I always end up laughing at the whole newsletter thing.  I figure if people need to know what's going on in our life then they should know already and not need a newsletter to fill them in.
  • Photo Card. Newsletters drive me nuts.
  • What's the norm in your circle? We get a ton of pic cards but if someone sent me a newsletter, I'd probably laugh.  But that's not the norm with us KWIM?
  • photo cards.

i think the newsletter is much more interesting to the sender than it ever is to the recipients.

  • Send a pic. Everyone wants to see the baby, no one wants to read a 2 page newsletter detailing the past year.

I get them every year from a friend of my moms. She is single, retired and has 2 cats and a bunny. It's a fascinating read.

  • I would pick one. I always do the photo cards. But I do like reading the newsletters.

  • I vote photo card, but if you have people you know would like a little update you could type up something short and include it.
  • I am doing a photo card.  I do like reading the newsletters but they are nms - we always laugh at the ones that are a little too braggy.
  • Photo cards - everyone wants to see your baby - some of the things we're all excited about with our babies so far are not so fascinating to people who aren't their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles (and those people don't need a newsletter).
  • Photo card and maybe do a blog and put that info in/on your card.  That is what we do because our family is always wanting to see more pictures.
