Food triumph for today!

Yesterday my numbers were all good, but I barely ate anything.....  I know.... I did a bad, but I was tired of seeing numbers pushing 200.  Today though, my numbers have all been in range.  Even at lunch when I had a hot chocolate, spinach & artichoke dip with a couple tortilla chips and a huge greek salad.  And I thankfully am not starving right now either.  I may have to do the salad more frequently just to feel satisfied and full.  I was so happy to see 136 though afterwards.  So, yay!

  • Yay for good numbers!

Though I have to say....1) ditch the hot chocolate (sorry...I am guilty of this, too), and 2) you need more sustainable energy in there - you need protein with complex carbs. So, maybe instead of the spinach artichoke dip (which I lurve), have a peanut butter (all natural, no added sugar!) sandwich on whole wheat bread, or even just cereal (low sugar!) with soy milk.  Something like that should help you feel full longer.

  • Yeah for good numbers!  But I still would have gotten dinged at the 136.  I had to be under 120.

I agree on adding more protein for sure.  And cut back on milk.  It threw my numbers wonky.

  • I had chicken on my salad but was having a hard time with it wanting to stay down.  And we were out for lunch today since we met up with my doula at Starbucks.  The hot chocolate was my big splurge for today.  When I make the salads at home I'll add some beans or tempeh I think.

Doula meetings deserve treats like hot chocolate :)

And yes, I love adding kidney beans & garbanzo beans to salads. Maybe add some almonds too? And of course watch what kind of dressing you put on there - simple oil & vinegar may be your best option right now, as a lot of commercial dressings have sugar/corn syrup.

Oh, and if you use sugar/honey in anything on a regular basis, switch to agave syrup. I love it and it has a much lower glycemic rating.

I don't use sugar/honey on a regular basis right now.  But, I will have to give the agave syrup a try for when I want a little sweet for my tea.  Thanks for the heads up on that.  :-)
