2nd Trimester

Team Green VENT

All of my family is behind me and DH's decision to not find out the sex, so no pressure there. But I told a couple of my friends this weekend (when asked) and they got so annoyed "I like to buy cute clothes for the baby, now what am I going to do?" I'm thinking, well that's one of the main reasons I DON'T

Re: Team Green VENT

  • Cute clothes are always great for the baby. I would never go out and spend money on a really nice outfit that a newborn would wear once or twice, but hey, if my friends want to, then I'll gladly let them.

That being said, just tell them that they can buy the cute clothes after the baby is born and they come to visit.

  • They can still buy cute clothes. I know what LO is and I've still bought gender neutral clothes.

    Just ignore them.

  • Yep, cute clothes will always be there. :)

  • I hear ya.  But my family is giving me a hard time, and I'm just like, "It's MY decision!!" They got to make their own decision when they were pregnant, and this is my pregnancy, so back off!!  They can always just get you neutral clothing anyway, or some bibs or blankets!! There is no shortage of what the baby will need!

  • oh and know it goes both ways. We've recieved a lot of comments about "why would you want to find out? That ruins the surprise!" Eh, whatever. Its not their decision.

  • Sorry, it posted before I was finished:

I'm thinking, well that's one of the main reasons I DON'T want to find out or tell people, and secondly, I don't really care! It's my baby, I don't want to find out, deal with it. They kept going on and on, it got really annoying after a while.

    Just needed to vent, thanks.

And I told them exactly that. I was like "the baby won't really wear tons of cute clothes in the beginning anyway, so you can just get something when he/she is a little older, or when I come home from the hospital" I'm not against gender specific clothes I just didn't want to be bombarded with them, especially knowing how little they'll be worn by LO. I also hate when people buy blue for boys and pink for girls, it's just a personal pet peeve.

I feel the same way. I'm interested to see what happens. Those close to me know how much I hate it so I doubt I'll get a TON of pink, but who knows?

I guess I'll find out at my shower.

Yes I completely agree with your reasoning.  don't let people who "need to know" get you down.  They'll get over it!

This. People complain that we found out the gender.
They'll find something to complain about regardless.
