Kiddo loves to play with his food - which is fine and totally understandable. But is there a good way to teach him not to do the "swipe across the tray so the food goes everywhere" thing? Right now I just ignore it and say something like "show me how you can eat." Other ideas?
Thank goodness for the dogs!

Do you do any signs with him? We taught DD "eat," "more," and "all done" around that age, and I think it helped her feel like she had a little more control over mealtime. If I started to take the food away, and she signed more then I'd just say "you can have more, but we don't throw food." If she started throwing it again, I'd end the meal. If she got hungry an hour later, she could sign that she wanted to eat.
GL, at least you have dogs
Doling out smaller portions at a time helped us. Also, putting the dogs away during mealtime helped because DDs liked to watch the dogs scramble around for the food!
