DS had his first fever ... questions

DS is 6 months today and has his first fever (101.8) I gave him tylenol and I'm not sure what else I should be doing. Should I call the doctor to let him know? At what point does a fever become a problem? DS seems to be teething ... any chance this is related ?

    From what I have read I think that is too high to be teething related.  I would call the doctor tomorrow am if he still has the fever.  My DS had his first fever a month ago and it responded really well to Tylenol but wasn't going away.  I almost didn't call the doctor because he didn't seem sick at all...decided to call because we were heading into the weekend and am so thankful because he ended up having a UTI and needed antibiotics.

    When they're this little I think it's good to just check in with teh pedi...they will tell you exactly what to look for and when to call again or bring him in.  It's good for peace of mind.

    wow Im glad I read this.  my son had a low fever 2 days last week (99-100).  I called the pede and they said as long as no other symptoms it's fine.  well it was gone for 2 days,,,,now back again on day2.  I was going to call again tomorrow anyway, but now I know to push for an appt!

    DD had a cold and I called the pedi to see if/when I needed to bring her in.  My pedi said if her temp got over 100 to bring her in (but she did have other symptoms)  I would at least call the pedi line today with a fever that high.
