Roy - Any thoughts???

A friend just named her son this.  I haven't ever known anyone with this name.  What do you think...cute or not so much???

Re: Roy - Any thoughts???

  • NMS. I immediately think of Roy from The Office and he was a bit of a loser. Or I think of old-time cowboys like Roy Rogers.

  • NMS.  I don't like it, but also had an awful student named Roy a few years back and could never name a child the same thing.

Hahaha...I thought of Roy from The Office too! At least there won't be many other Roys in that little Roy's class!

  • This was my uncle's name. Had he lived longer than 6 months, he'd  be in his 50's. I always found it quite hard to say (even now)

  • I know of a boy named Royal, which I thought was kinda cool.

  • Not a fan.

  • Not a fan. Sounds really dated.
  • It sounds a little to old manish to me but I have thought of it as a middle name as it is my mothers maiden name.

  • It is not my style. It reminds me of Roy from The Office or Roy Rogers. Oddly, I like Ron though.
  • It was my grandpa's name (and quite possibly the greatest guy ever), so I kind of like it. We've thought about it as a middle name, but obviously it has special meaning for us.

We've also thought about Royston (like Royston Langdon).

  • I immediately think of the move Overboard when Goldie Hawn is trying to remember the name of "her kids" and guessed one as Roy! "It's not Travis dad, it's Roy!"

Sorry, just a movie line that my sister and I crack up about everytime we see it! ha ha! Needless to say, I'd never use it.
