Am I the only Mom (to be) who doesn't want to spend $300+ on crib bedding? Really I'd like to spend $150 or less. I am having twins so I need to be super practical. I also like the idea of buying separates. I am not insulting moms (to be) for spending that much. I just can't wrap my head around it...probably because I can't afford it. But still...
Re: I don't want to spend $$$$ on crib set (vent)
We didn't buy a bedding set, just separates.
I think bedding sets are adorable, but a waste of money.

I refuse to spend more on my baby's bedding than I did my own. It's kind of been my mantra throughout this pregnancy. I wouldn't normally spend $40 on a tee shirt, so I'm not going to spend that much on a maternity one.
I did manage to find a bedding set that was reasonably priced and that we both loved. If I hadn't I was considering making my own or going the separates route.

The set I found if we have a boy is on amazon.com (or there is an ebay seller who sells the same set, brand new, for starting at $50, for a $200 set). Remember to check all your options.
I always see baby bedding on registeries too. I'm not doing that since I don't want to reveal the gender until the shower, but for most that's an option.
I think its such a waste to buy a crib set to begin with. First, infants shouldn't have blankets in their beds, suffocation hazard, so you can't use the blanket that comes with the set. So what, you hang it on the wall? Thats a pretty expensive wall hanging. And then its recommended to not have bumpers, another suffocation hazard. I know people use them. So you're left with the sheet and skirt and maybe the window covering. I wouldn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on 2 or 3 pieces. It all looks so cute yeah but it's really a waste.

I think 150 is even a lot! We got Jack's for something like 110. It's really cute. It came with the blanket (hung on wall), bumper (hung on wall like a border), skirt, one sheet, and matching diaper hanger.
As Irish said, there are lots for less than 150! Plus, if you go to one of the major baby places like Buy Buy Baby or BRU, they have the 15/20 % coupons often.
Check out Target! They sell cribs for a great price. That is where we registered for our crib...it's $160...the Graco Lauren.
Target also has a Baby Sale at different times during the year...I think they are due for one soon, so you might be able to get the crib for a little less then.
HTH!
The bedding sets are a waste of money. You get a bumper, which you aren't supposed to use. You get a comforter, which you aren't supposed to use until they are toddlers. You get a ruffle, which doesn't fit quite a few cribs.
The only thing you can use is a sheet.
We just have individual sheets. Dwell Studio at Target has some really adorable patterns. I suggest you look at those.
The set from PBK is a lot higher quality from any of the other sets I like that are 6 pieces and I don't need the extra things.
This. And there is nothing wrong with separates if that's what you like. Get what you're into & don't worry about if it's a "set" or not.
Anyway, back on topic, the set I'm looking at is only $50. I'd love to spend even $150 on a crib set because I've seen some super cute ones but heck I don't even spend near that on my own bedding! haha
You're not the only one! lol
DH and I bought a crib set at IKEA (super cheap for here in Beijing) and sheets from there are well.
We don't really believe in spending lots of money on babies since they don't remember anyway. We do, however, put all the extra money we WOULD spend on that crap into a university account which we feel is a much better investment.
Oh, and our kid will mostly wear hand-me-downs too and have secondhand strollers and toys. Call us cheap, but we have no debt and our mortgage is almost paid off (which gives us a $400 000 asset in the bank).
