How on earth can you keep LO's hands from getting in the way when nursing? I'm having an increasingly hard time with this. I have him in cross-cradle hold, and his top hand is always getting in the way and sometimes even scratching me. Any tips??
"For a long time there were only your footprints & laughter in our dreams & even from such small things, we knew we could not wait to love you forever."
It took me a while to figure it out, but I've somehow become coordinated enough to hold down his upper arm with my thumb as I support his neck/shoulders... if that doesn't work, I swaddle him.

The best solution I've found when he gets like that -- and this will only work as long as he still fits in 0-3/newborn clothes-- is to fold over the cuffs on his shirts/nightgowns and grab the extra fabric with my teeth until he latches! Sounds funny (and I'm sure looks funny) but it works.
The nursing necklace is a great idea too but I think my LO is too young for it.

LOL, I've done the same thing! It just seems like there must be a better way.

My issue is his bottom hand, if I don't trap it against my body somehow and hold tight he'll shove it in his mouth while nursing...which is about as comfortable as it sounds. I had an LC tell me that you want them to have that top hand free to "pet" you because it helps with your let down. Although I have been scratched and pinched too much for my liking I might have to invest in a necklace.
we swaddled. also in the beginning dh helped a lot. he'd move her hands and hold them down so i could hold my boob and help her latch. it was quite the scene. eventually we got it and he's not needed.

when my LO get this way its normally been a little to long between feedings. I started feeding when he starts sucking on his hands but u've found that having DH hold his hands or football hold
Oh, I have a great solution! I've been struggling with this and now DD is strong enough and coordinated enough to grab fistfuls of my breast - it was leaving bruises! Then I pulled out this bunny-blanket doll thing we got as a gift and it is awesome! It is like a doll and blanket combined, and one side of the blanket part is satin and the other is velvet. I put it in DD's hands and she grips it and plays with it and leaves my boobs alone!
I found it online for you - it is pricey but I'm sure you could find something similar. Or it may be worth the price to spare your girls :-)

clever!
I have the same problem when I try to nurse. I've been envisioning duct tape!
