Hi from a second trimester girl! the NB clothing at the store mainly says "up to 7 pounds." Is this accurate, or do people find that their babies still wear the NB clothing for awhile- even after they're past 7 pounds?
My little girl still wears the NB outfits and she weighs 7lbs 10oz. Her feet are too big for the footie pj's though, but the rest of her fits fine in the outfits and has some room to grow.
LO was 6lbs 8oz and 20 inches when he was born and NB clothes were too big on him. We had him in preemie for the first week or so, and then NB until he was just about 2 months (and over 11lbs and 22 inches).
Henry just passed 8 pounds, and he's definitely still in the newborn sizes.
"For a long time there were only your footprints & laughter in our dreams & even from such small things, we knew we could not wait to love you forever."
Yeah, they last a lot longer than that. Our LO was 7 lbs at his 1.5 wk appt and is still wearing NB at 2 weeks. He's a long ways away from the 0-3 stuff we have.
I would definitely make sure you have some NB stuff on hand. As a PP said, Gerber runs small and Carter's runs a bit roomier.
DS was 8 lbs 4 oz at birth, now 10 lbs 6 oz at 4 weeks and we are STILL wearing some of the NB up to 7 lbs items, sleepers and onesies. I think end of next week I will be taking them out of rotation.
Gerber runs small as people have posted. So does American Apparel.
I recommend getting at least a few NB size items even if they are 'predicting' a large baby.
DD was born at 9 lb 6 oz and wore nb until she was 3-4 weeks old. 0-3 was just too big on her when she was born (and she was a big baby)! So I would suggest having some nb things for the first few weeks.
most fit untill about 10 pounds even with the bigger cloth diapers on. We are wearing 3-6 month stuff now but he is almost 14 pounds and over 25 inches (haven't measured height in two weeks so I know he is longer)
Me DOR amh .64 ng/mL
DH Brain Cancer
BFP #1 12/11/08 DS born 8/23/09
BFP#2 10/13/11 DC 11/4/11
BFP#3 12/6/13 Lost 12/29/13
Told IVF is the only option and have not found a clinic that will take me.
My DD just stopped wearing newborn clothes and she is now 9lbs 10oz. And the only reason she isn't wearing them now is because they are becoming a little too short for her. But they were still a little big for her when she was born and she was 7lb 15oz at birth.
my baby girl is 9 lbs and she is still in newborn clothes except gerber, that is the only 0-3 stuff she is wearing right now because that brand runs small. Everyone told me carter ran small so I had bought a bunch of carter in sizes bigger than i would have and she hasn't grown into them yet.

Re: up to 7 pound clothing- accurate?
DS is almost 8 pounds now and is SWIMMING in NB clothes. We probably won't have him in 0-3 months until 2.5-3 months.
Gerber runs small, and I've found that carters is the best for clothes.....at least IMO.
DD wore NB until 5/6 weeks and she was 7 lb 9 oz at birth.
Not accurate

DS was 7 lbs 9 oz and wore NB for about 2 months, except gerber brand. they didn't fit quite as long.
