Logistics question from newbie

So I really like the idea of babywearing, but I'm confused about one thing.  So, say I'm going grocery shopping and I drive to the store with the baby in the carseat... then I take the baby out of the carseat, put on the Moby (which seems to be the wrap I like the most at this point) in the parking lot and then go in the store?  What happens if it's raining or snowing?  Where do you put on the wrap?  Are they easy enough to put on before driving to the store, then you just tuck LO in once you get there?  I'm nervous that I'll show up at the store and not be able to get the wrap on and I'll be stuck.  How does it work?  TIA!!!

Re: Logistics question from newbie

  • With wraps, I always put them on at home. They are comfy and it's easy to pop the baby in quickly in the parking lot.

  • WIth the Moby or my mei tai I always put it on at home. So much easier to pop the babe in when you get there!

  • I always have my ergo on, ready to go when we're going out.  I just park the car, take DD out of her carseat and put her right into the ergo.  If it's cold/rainy I usually try to keep her warm by pulling my jacket around her and run into the store.

  • I climb in the backseat with baby still in the car seat, put on DD & wrap/carrier while still in the car, then go into the store.  If the weather is gross I throw a blanket over her or bring an umbrella ... whichever is appropriate.
