I've been wrapping DD since she was 7 days old, but since most wrap carries put all the weight on the shoulders/upper back and I have minor back issues from a car accident I switched mainly to a mei tai around 5 mos. We still did a few wraps here and there (mainly the wiggleproof), but there came a time when DD did not have the patience to be wrapped well so I more or less gave it up.
But the picture of the Chunei Back Carry in ncbelle's sig looked like it might be promising for more distribution of weight....
I used my *Bali Baby Breeze Whitman in 5.5 to wrap DD who is 9 days short of 2 years old, 32.5" tall, 21# and wants to be worn alot and therefor has the patience for wrapping. She also understands when I say "Hadley, snuggle mama!" that she is to assume wrap position and not wiggle or straighten her legs. ;)These are the videos that I learned with:

They aren't the greatest pictures (sorry the last one is so blurry, I'm just lucky I got us in the picture, lol!), but I think they show a pretty good representation.
* I sold all my wraps when I found the Scandi MT love, because they are so $$. I purchased this wrap on a recent trip OOT- my BFF was having her baby 3 hours away and I left so quickly in DH's car (he drove a Prius at the time=HUGE cost savings on gas) that I didn't realize he had taken my carrier out. I was halfway there when I realized it and I was already afraid I would miss the birth (which I did by an hour or two anyway, in spite of my speeding ticket....) so I didn't want to go back. I figured I would just buy a cheap pouch sling to get me through, so I went to a resale shop once I got there to see what they had... Lo and behold, the brand new BBB for $30! So while I would generally prefer a much shorter wrap, this one is special to me because it's my Lily Wrap. And it does give me extra to tie Tibetan.
ETA: I was worried how this would work with my... ample bosom. I wear a 30/32G so I was afraid it would be uncomfortable but it was not at all. I also like that the front section acts as a minimizer.
Re: inspired by ncbelle's siggie... my first chunei
Hmmm....I may need to rethink. I need something that acts as a maximizer, LOL.
Awesome!! I LOVE this carry right now - it's so comfortable and it really does take the weight off your shoulders. LOL at the minimizer - I'm already pretty minimal so my fear was that it would totally flatten me ;-)
And what a cool story about the wrap!

Well, you can see in my siggy what it does to someone who needs maximizing ;-) Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm just wearing a nursing tank in that picture so with a real bra the effect isn't quite as flattening!

thanks for posting - i'm off to watch the youtube videos!
this might sound stupid but would this work with a large square of fabric, what i have is like a tapestry. we were going to just hang it up on a wall... a cousin did volunteer work in africa and just brought this back and said the women carry their babies in it, but i'm not sure how...
ETA: nevermind, i just watched the videos, duh, this fabric wouldn't work for that.
This!
Question!
I watched the videos. In first one she already had the baby on her back with her hands in "wrapping position". In the second she showed how she put him on her back, but he was older and was holding on. How do you do it for a child that won't hold on? She was only holding onto the wrap, so if the kid wasn't holding on wouldn't he have slipped through? The last time I tried to get Sophie into a back carry by myself she almost fell onto the floor (and would have but I caught her). Help!
I have a video in my siggy of how I do it - it's for a ruck but the same idea applies for this carry. Once you get the first pass on nice and snug and as long as you keep tension on both ends, it's pretty secure.
