This is my first child, a boy, and I feel really out of the loop on what parents are naming their kids lately. I've checked out ssa.gov but would like to hear from real people which boy names seem most trendy right now. Thanks!
Besides the whole Aiden/Jayden/anything that ends in "den" trend?
I think there is a big difference between trendy and popular. Popular is the top 20 on ssa.gov. Normal names that have been around a long time that everyone likes to use although have now become over kill.
Trendy is when you try to be different and then a lot of people say "hey, that's kinda a cool name, I think I'll use that too". And then you start seeing that name everywhere. At least that"s how I see it.
The new trend for boy seems to be last names as first. I'll admit, I like a lot of them, but will never use one. I think it only makes sense if the name has special meaning to you.

This is how I see "trendy" vs. Classic names that are popular.
I'm not sure if this is "trendy" or "popular" either way its blowing up every where... the name Jackson or Jack.
I love this name... I thought it was soo awesome when my stepmom named my half-brother this about 10 yrs ago b/c it is a family name, but now it is every where!!
I can only think of Jack/Jackson. Everywhere I turn I hear "Jack" - now, it is a classic nn, but so are Tim, Bob, Dan, Matt, etc. and you don't hear those going around everywhere.
here in Boston I personally know 5 people who have baby Ryan's and there are a bunch of Brady's (due no doubt to Tom Brady the Patriots QB) and Jack's
Ryan is the most popular boy's name in Massachusetts. I think it's an Irish thing. But I also think it's more classic than it is trendy, technically. Like Michael, Thomas, or William... which are also very popular in the area. But I agree about the Brady/Jack thing.
Re: Trendiest boy names
When I think of trendy boy names I think of....
Haden/Caden/Brayden/Aiden (& any other name ending in -den)
Mason
Surnames as first names
Collin
Cooper
Connor
I will probably think of more later...
Heather
Any Braden, Caden Jaden, Aiden or Hayden variation
Jack
Jacob?
Liam
Connor/Conner?

A big, fat DITTO to what's already been listed, plus Alex or Alexander.
Of our circle of friends/co-workers, there are more Alexes than anything else (followed by the --dens, Jacks, Jacobs, OH and ETHANs).
