How many of you recorded your labor and delivery? I'm going back and forth right now about it. We have a video camera and tripod we could set up. I don't want extra people there just to record and I don't want DH away from me having to worry about it...
So, if you recorded, how did you do it and were you glad that you did?
Re: s/o birth videos
11 months
that was something i always said i would never do.
at my baby shower some friends talked about it and said that i should record it and if i decide i dont want to watch it after the fact then i can just delete it, and that no one else has to ever see it and all that. i was not convinced
then my doula suggested the same thing...
then dh bought the camera "just in case i changed my mind"
our doula grabbed the camera just before he crowned and recorded from there till he was out.
i knew it was on the camera so when we came home from the hospital i hid the camera. i didnt want to see it or think about it or anything. i ended up watching it a month later. i started the video and stopped it maybe 3 times before i finally was able to watch the whole thing. and by the end of it i was in tears. im secretly glad i have that. no one but me and dh will ever see it or know that it exists. and thats just fine with me
We really were meant for each other luvlie
. I can understand why some people would want it on film but I myself would not want to watch mine!
I feel the same way as Luvlie.....but then again, during each my my births they were more worried about the babies being preamture and having problems than if they could hold the video camera. Plus, I can say that both times, a tri pod would have gotten knocked over probably in all the rush.
I have pictures of DH and I and our babies both the first time we held them (both in the NICU) and personally, that is enough for me.
I'm planning a home birth so there will be DH, me and two midwives. I might just set it up in the corner of the room and if it gets the birth, fine, if not, no big deal. And, if it's an easy labor, I might ask the assistant midwife to record the actual birth...
I don't know. I guess we'll just play it by ear and have the camera ready just in case...
And I would never let anyone else see the video! Only me and DH!
