I love the name Alexander Samuel. But our last name starts with an S. His (if it's a boy) would be A.S.S. If this kid has a personality like mine, he'll think it's hysterical and would love it.
WDYT?
Other names we like are Henry Alexander, rebecca jean & alexandra jean.
Re: A.S.S. Initials? WDYT?
don't do it.
As someone who had crappy initials growing up, we're being very careful about the selection of names.
mine was SLAM - and being a fat kid, that wasn't good news.
what about alexander henry?
a.s.s.-- i wouldn't. but i wouldn't judge you if you did.
hahahahaha it would be funny, but only for like the first 3 times it's joked about. and then the poor boy will have to write out his name on all documents and then constantly get comments from people... can you switch first and middle and then just call him by his middle?
also, funny for you but you don't have to have that as your name ;o)
Don't. Do. It.
The initials are part of the naming for me. If they don't work its no dice.
You do not want your kid to be initialing documents for his finances or his first home with those letters. Names aren't just for kids, they are for life (ideally).
I would never do that. I have a similar issue and have had to give up a name I loved because of that. I'd hate to have my son made fun of for something that I could've prevented.
Side story: growing up a girl I knew was Elizabeth O. but always went by Beth. Apparently her parents wanted to name her Beth, but then her initials would be BO, so they changed it to Elizabeth but always called her Beth. Kids were cruel on the playground when they found that out.

I wouldn't he would be teased all through school.
I have a friend named Jack he go teased big time for that
OMG, that's why I had to change the girl name I had liked because the initials would also be A.S.S. Our last name starts with an S and I had liked Amber Sujey...well...not happening anymore!
Better to have caught it now than when the kid is in school and everyone makes fun of her! LOL
NO WAY. We have an "S" last name too. I would never! Might be funny to an adult, but probably not a kid being teased.
As someone with a cousin with those initials, don't do it.
He still gets picked on.
He's 35.
I'm kind of on the fence with this one. On one hand, if it's not that important of a name to you, and you could be just as happy with a different one, then why not just be safe and change it?
On the other hand, I think kids will find a way to tease other kids no matter what. It may be your initials, your hair, who knows what? But I think the biggest deterrant to bullying is how the child and parent handles it, ie, how much confidence the child has within themselves. I got teased in school for little stuff, but I knew how to take it. I would just laugh and poke a joke at myself and say something like "hey, I know the glasses are ugly... but I gotta see, right?" And the kids moved on. KWIM?
I wouldn't do that to my child. He would be teased beyond belief. I think Henry is adorable!
If you really love the name, but don't want those initials why don't you throw a "Lee" (or other short 'interjectional' name) in there? Alexander Samuel Lee S.
I know its long, but its a compromise. I have a long name and its never bothered me. If your kid complains about the length he will probably forgive you when you tell him what the alternative was
.
OR flip flop it. Samuel Alexander. You can still call him by his middle name. I just wouldn't go with ASS.
