Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

waiting to naturally m/c, how long does it take usually?

I just found out yesterday that my levels did not double.  The Dr is waiting for me to naturally m/c. I feel like a walking tomb! How long can this take?  I just want to move on with the holidays, we have a trip to Hawaii coming up in 2 weeks (although we might cancel now),etc.  I have no spotting or anything and still feel PG.  I have a toddler who needs his moms attention and I want to be able to give it to him. I just want to move forward.

Should I insist on that pill to help it along or a D&C?  Is there advantages or disadvantages to doing any of those?

DS- 4 years old, Natural m/c @ 7 weeks-12/1/09. Infertility issues- low ovarian reserve- low AMH and high FSH. Looking into adoption. Trying to figure out where to go with your little one? My favorite website is: Trekaroo AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers

  • Oy vey.  How far along are you?  Did they even do an ultrasound to confirm that you had a m/c?  What were your levels?

There are no advantages/disadvantages to anything - though no matter what you decide - you may wind up with a d/c anyway.

  • I'm sorry to hear you're going through this.  I agree with pp post on confirming the m/c.

As far as options, I didn't want to wait for it naturally because it had already been weeks and I had no signs it was coming.  I tried the med route (wanting the physical part over with) and it didn't work, but from what I understand, it has a very high success rate.  I then had a D&C.

It is a very personal decision, so you need to think about what's best for you in dealing with this.  I can say, I would give a whole lot to take a vacation right now.  I just feel like a few weeks away do wonders for me.

Good luck to you.  Please let us know how you are doing.

    All of this.

  • Hi again,

I responded to your other post before seeing this one. Absolutely wait to confirm the m/c. What are your levels and how far along are you? Are your levels still on the increase? Dropping? Early on, my doc assured me that sometimes, even if they don't double, a pg can be just fine. Keep us posted!
