We put down our deposit last week. They only take 20 infants at a time and we did not want to risk waiting too long and losing our spot. I don't think it is too early at all.
We found one we like but won't need daycare until end of July, so they told us to call back in February. There's always a waiting list, but at this point it's too early to be put on it. Just one more thing to do!
It is great you are being so proactive. A lot of times there are up to 1 year waiting list for newborns. Also it will be one less thing you will have to worry about.
in my town you only have a handfull of daycares that are not church daycares. The one we chose is a church daycare, although we dont go to the church. It's about 2 miles from my house and 2 miles from my job, 3 miles from husbands job, and 1 mile from my mom's business. Great location considering its on the main road we all travel for work. I went to this daycare when I was little.
DH and I found one last week. Everyone said that we were smart for looking so early rather than waiting until later because they fill up so fast. I am nervous about ours though because she didn't have us sign a contract or give a downpayment! She's an at home daycare who has been doing it for 17 years so I think we'll be ok, but it's just scary!

"Dear Lord, I would have loved to have held my babies on my lap & tell them about you, but since I didn't get the chance, would you please hold them on your lap & tell them about me?" All are welcome!
We don't have to put a downpayment on ours or sign a contract. We just have to fill out information about when the baby was due what age we would like to start the child and what our names and numbers are so they can contact us if a spot is open.
One thing I don't like is that at the bottom it says if you are called with a spot for your baby before your child is ready you have the opition to pay half the weeks fee for daycare until you are ready but if you choose not to pay you will be put back on the end of the list.
I haven't yet but I think I'm going to very soon. I don't want to have yet another thing to worry about later on. We've weighed all the pros & cons of daycare center vs. at home care & daycare center won. By the time we use FSA, we actually don't have to pay anymore either.
I can't sign up for the daycare we are considering until January. I'm also going to talk to a family member over the holidays when I see her to see if she is interested in keeping the baby. My fingers are crossed that she will do it!
Re: Who's all signed up LO for daycare
Not yet, we are touring daycares now. We have seen 2 & have 2 more to see.
I wish we were done - this is not fun!!
