Do you think of "old man"?

DH says this reminds him of an old man's name or the name of one of the Earp brothers (this confuses me because they were Wyatt and Morgan, not Emmett).

I tend to think of either Emmett from Twilight or Emmett Brown from Back to the Future.

I personally like the name Emmett...despite the fact that it reminds me of a-hole Emmett Smith. I probably wouldn't choose to use it simply because I am here in the Dallas area. If I lived elsewhere then yeah, I'd use it.

I don't get how it reminds your DH of one of the Earp brothers either. Now my son Wyatt's name fits the bill, but not Emmett.

I love it. It's on the top of our name list. I like it b/c it reminds me of a character out of a Jane Austen novel (though I don't think there really is one named Emmett) and DH likes it b/c of Emmett Smith. It's a great choice, IMO!
