Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

D/C a month ago and STILL bleeding? TMI

I had my D/C a month ago today, and I am still bleeding.  It lasted for a week after the procedure, and it started up again on Halloween.  It is mostly brown, some clotting, and some pink/red at times.  How long is this gonna last?  I should mention that I have not had a "regular" period since conceiving DS...over two years ago.  Could this be why?

  • hmm, bleeding on and off like that could be normal, or could be retained tissue that is trying to come out, could be your irregular cycle.  To be on the safe side, ring your doctor let's see what he'll say.

Good luck and sorry for your loss

  • With my first loss I had a D&C and the results were similar to what you are saying.  I did bleed for about a week regularly...it stopped...and then started again brown for about another 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.  With my recent loss...I had the same thing.  My doctor said no big deal that it was just my body cleaning itself out and preparing to conceive again.  It does stink though.  I hope it ends soon for you!
  • I bled after my first D&C on 10/9/09.  It started out with brown spotting the first week and then I got excited because I was seeing more of what appeared to be AF.  The doctor stated there was no chance of AF this soon after a D&C.  Ultrasound revealed after 3 weeks of bleeding and spotting I was in need of another D&C.  I had my 2nd D&C on 11/3/09.  The bleeding stopped immediately afterwards.  Now I am waiting and praying for AF to arrive sooner than later.

I am sorry for your loss.  Please be sure to contact your doctor if the bleeding continues.  I dreaded the 2nd D&C but the cramping and all went away afterwards and made a big difference.
