I don't hate the names Nathaniel or Nathan, but I don't love them either. ?To be honest, I don't love any names right now, which is why I feel like I'm posting on the dang name board every other day!!?
So I like the name Nate, but feel it's incomplete as a stand alone first name. ?Can you think of anything else? ?
Also I just recently came across Keaton and Patton as boy names-- what do you think? ?Since I first saw Patton, I've come across 2 little boys with the name. ?So... ready set go...what do you think???
Re: Nate? Keaton? Patton?
I like Nathan but hate Nate, so I guess I am no help there.
Not crazy about either Patton (it is pat - ton right?) or Keaton though either.

I like Nathan. Nate is ok. Not a fan of Keaton (Alex P Keaton anyone?) or Patton
Not a fan of Keaton or Patton.
I like Nate, but it does feel like a nn to me.
I have a nickname as a stand alone name (to use the phrase used by a pp'er!) It works just fine. I say if you like Nate, just go for it.

I agree, I don't think Nate is a "full" name by itself. I know a Natanael (Nataniel, with a twist)... What about something like that? Patton is nms. When I hear Keaton, I think of Michael- of course, it could be cool to name your son after Batman.
