Might I make a suggestion/PSA without getting beaten up?

When I first came to the boards it took me FOREVER to find a 'search' option. I was expecting it to be on the main page and it wasn't. However, now that I know where it is...when I have a question that might be commonly asked (such as 'is it normal to...', or 'has anyone experienced...') I try to do a search first to get answers before posting my question.

I only bring this up because I feel badly for those who ask a question that has been asked, and then don't get the number or types of replies they were hoping for.

Perhaps we can gently remind people (when these questions get posted again) that they may get additional information by doing a search?

FYI...once you're on a board, it's down towards the bottom. I usually search all boards in case the answer is somewhere I'm not.

At least make it my left hand...I'm a righty Big Smile

  • I tried to do this the other week.  Looking for a post...remembered some of the words in the subject and the topic...and the search pulled up crap.  the bump search is lacking the response I am used to from google
  • Thank you! I don't post all that often and there are many things on these boards that I don't know how to do. So I appreciate it.

  • The search function has never worked for me. I don't bother to try anymore.

Actually, I meant to add this point to my post......so many people use abbreviations that sometimes a search doesn't work too well. It also seems to be limited, timewise or something....

I just figured people could try it first so they get more info than they'd normally get from one posting.

This. I've tried to use it several times and it never works. The search function really is useless. Even if you know a key word in the title, nothing comes up.

Case in point, I tried looking for the April check in once and literally typed in "April". I think two very random posts popped up, neither of which were the check in. And I KNOW the April check in has "April" in the title.
