The manufacturer says 1 year and 20 pounds, but curious to see if people usually move them after this guideline. DD hates being back there, its a battle every time to keep her entertained and lately tantrums are a normal practice. Wondering if I moved it to forward facing, if it would help...

We turned dd1 ff when she was about 14 months.
100% agree! Do your own research and do what is best for your family.
Uh oh. Here's a POLL from yesterday

Sam is still rear facing at 27 lbs and 15 1/2 months. I keep him rear facing because so far he is tolerating it. However, if it was a battle every time we got in the car and forward facing would help, I would turn him around as long as he met the weight/age requirements.
There are pros/cons to each side. For us, I'm choosing to keep Sam rear facing as long as possible. But again, he enjoys being rear facing.
I'll actually answer your question. ?We won't be moving DS until he's 2, unless circumstances force us to do otherwise (motion sickness, major temper tantrums, etc.) ?I feel that's the safest choice and the AAP agrees.
HTH!?

I'm not going to lie, a youtube video helped us make our decision. We did, of course, read lots of articles and talked as a family.
I think it's something that is important to be informed about. And I think it is a personal decision and everyone makes different decisions for their families.
Extended rear facing is the right decision for our family.
I also wanted to note that 1 year and 20 lbs is what the law says is the soonest. Most manufacturers of convertibles have a much higher weight that they can rear face.
Like this kind poster, I will simply answer your question. We are rearfacing until 2 in my car and DS was turned ff in DH"s car at 18 months. Our cheaper seat (in DH's car) fits better forward so we turned it earlier.
I'll answer because i really don't care what anyone else thinks/says about my parenting choices. I switched DS when he was 10 months old, he was well over 20 pds and screamed his head off RF and it was driving me crazy, i felt trapped in my house, so we switched him. Here's a pic of the day we did it, life was SOOO much easier.
We are turning Brooke next week for our trip to Philly.
:: runs out of post screaming ::
I agree with this.
But, to answer your question: DD was 20 lbs, so we turned her around on her 1st birthday.
::runs from post screaming:: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
OP not your fault. Just a hot topic around here.
And I completely agree with this.
I understand and i felt really sick over it. I am seriously grateful that nothing adverse happened, but the difference in ike was night and day; i just couldn't take the screaming anymore.
It's not the law in Texas, so she didn't break any laws. It's still unbelievably irresponsible, IMO.
But it IS safer; you can't argue otherwise. And safer is better.
I'm certainly not proud of it, i'm happy it ended up working out for us and i don't regret my decision, but i do believe the law in TX is 20 pds AND a year, if so yes i broke the law.
Actually, RF until 1 year IS Texas state law.

Sorry Rhi, I just can't get on board with that decision.

No worries, it's why i avoided these posts like the plague, i know that i am most definitely in the minority with this decision.
