Josh will only sleep in his Little Lamb swing now. It's our own fault for letting him nap in there so frequently though. I tried just letting him cry but I couldn't do it for too long. I tried sitting by his crib and that worked this morning but did jackshit this afternoon. I don't know what to do. He'll go down in his crib at night but wake up when he rolls over and will not go back to sleep so we put him in there. Like I said, it's our own stupid fault and I wish we'd never bought the stupid thing. He used to go down to sleep so well! Any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Re: So. Frustrated. (maybe flammable)
My daughter loves that swing too. Luckily not at night!
No specific advice except for that I highly highly recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Baby". It has been a lifesaver for me and many of my friends.
I'm no help because I HELD my son for every.single.nap for 7 months and then laid next to him for every.single.nap until he was 10 months old because he wouldn't sleep otherwise. I am a proponent of working with your baby. Yours is still so young I wouldn't worry! Try putting yourr LO in the crib at first and if that doesn't work put them in the swing. One of these times the crib will be okay.
Believe me, I didn't think my son would EVER be able to nap by himself. Then it happened. Don't get frustrated, your baby is so little and just trying to figure things out- not trying to make it hard for you!
ETA: Just be thankful you have SOME way your baby will sleep. Once he hits 6 months and quits sleeping well all together, you'll look back and wish the swing still worked!!
This. Just keep at it. Lay him in his crib when he's happy so he gets used to it. Put him in there for every nap and at night, and when it doesn't work, do what you have to do to get him to sleep. At some point, he'll get used to it.
You're doing fine.
That's what happened with us. He had an ear infection so we put him in there at night. And I didn't even think about the negative association aspect. Thanks for the advice.
