2nd Trimester

anyone else...

think it is absolutely rediculous to spend $60 or more on a diaper bag? Or $80 (or more) for a maternity skirt? Maybe I am really cheap, I am ok with that, but really? I won't even pay that much for a purse. I see a lot of people posting pictures of cute baby things they get and I am blown away by the price. Don't get me wrong, if you want to pay it and can, awesome. I just can't and don't want to. Anyone have any luck finding cute things that are decently priced? I tried to find some online but apparently am a google failure.

Re: anyone else...

  • I am not one to spend a lot either. However, the bag I liked was around 100. DH hates it so we are picking something else...

  • I'm cheap too, and I haven't spent much on DS, and won't on this baby either. I would rather buy inexpensive things so I can buy more, than buy a few really expensive things. I have 2 diaper bags, both are Skip Hops, and they get so dirty! I would never pay hundreds of $$$ for one.

My biggest thing is strollers- I know quality is different, but I just cannot fathom spending like $800 on a stroller. Seems so insane to me!

  • I don't like buying maternity clothes because I know I'm not going to get THAT much use out of them, and they're so friggin' expensive! Luckily, I've had a LOT of hand-me-downs given to me. Sweet!

However, I think $60 for a diaper bag (which you will likely be using every day for a LONG time) is totally reasonable. I want something durable, practical and not too ugly, as I'll be bringing it with me everywhere, I'm sure.

  • I always check amazon.com for things. You can usually find stuff from target and BRU much cheaper than in store. Plus, if you're not opposed to second had, try ebay and local consignment shops! Once Upon a Child is a great one if you have that in your area.
  • diaper bag-- no- i'll spend more to make sure it's lasts. lets be honest- that thing will ge everywhere and take a beating.

now a mat skirt on the other hand.....

  • Another place to shop for simple things like diaper bags would be overstock.com

Sometimes they have good stuff, sometimes not, but shipping is always $2.95 for the entire order (even if you purchase an entire livingroom set!) and sometimes you can get shipping for $1.

  • DH and I both picked out diaper bags when I had DD. I thought it was ridiculous that he picked out 1 bag that was $50 and I picked out a set of 3 bags for $25! Turns out, the bag that we LOVE and use every single day is the $50 bag and I would buy it again in a heartbeat! I wish they had a slightly larger version for parents of 2+ kids.
