Wraps, slings, and carriers - question for moms who use them

Hi! Visiting from 2nd tri and looking for advice on baby wraps/slings etc (DH needs practical suggestions for Christmas Smile)

Anyway, I would like a comfy, hands-free way to carry baby for the first few months. When ds was born, I got a baby bjorn, but I didn't use it all that much as it hurt my back, and as he was too small at birth to use it right away. So I'm thinking about a wrap or a sling.

Do you use one? Do you (and LO) like it? any rec's or advice?

Many thanks!

  • The Moby's great -- I felt totally comfortable using it right away, and he has loved it from the very beginning.

  • I have a ring sling and love it!
  • I got the Balboa Baby sling after LO was born, and it's wonderful.  LO likes to be in it, and will just hang out and usually falls asleep.  It's easy to get him in and out of too.

  • For the first 6 to 8 weeks, I used a sling from Infantino that I found at TJ Maxx for $15. I knew I wouldn't be using it long so I just got a cheap one and it was great. Now its too squishy for DD. I use the bjorn a lot now. I like it. I have also heard that the Ergo is awesome and easier on your back b/c it puts the weight on your hips. My sister (who has 4 kiddos) has one.

  • I have a Moby and I find it pretty easy to put on and use.. to bad DD doesn't like it yet ;)

W/ DD1, I loved my Hotsling but that was for later because she didn't like it as a NB. Loved it for the hip carry though! We used it all the time.

I have quite a few friends who swear by the Ergo. You can use it in multiple positions, including hip and back and it's "safe" for LO's hips (unlike the Bjorn.. but we do use that too).

  • Moby. Although he may or may not like it at first...keep trying every few days.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • I love the Moby. I have the Ergo but they have to be maybe 16 or 17 lbs to use it.. I don't like it with the infant insert, much prefer the Moby while he is little.?
  • I have the Moby, and I love it.  There are many different ways to put DD in it, depending on her age and head control...so I was able to use it right away, and still use it, just putting her in in a different way.  It's also very comfortable for me to wear, I wear DD while vacuuming, on the elliptical, bumping... :)  Just can't do dishes while wearing her because she's in the way!
  • I have this one.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  It's a cute pattern, it's comfortable, and it's super inexpensive.  DS adores it.  He sleeps in it for hours.  I'm thinking of getting a second one to keep in the car for outings so I'm never without it.

  • We use the baby K'tan. It has the same look/feel of the Moby, but you don't have to tie anything! You just skip it on and stick the baby in it.
