Generic Zofran for cheap?

I got my Zofran Rx filled at CVS yesterday.  The Rx only cost me $5, which shocked me, because usually expensive drugs are $40 co-pay.

It is a generic version (read all the info--says its commonly marketed as "Zofran") and works the same.  I don't think my nurse practioner is aware there's a generic version, because she told me that my Rx was like $1,000s of dollars and that I should be careful not to lose any pills.

Where it says insurance cost on the CVS slip, it says "$13.83".   So nothing close to what I've seen others say it costs and what my own medical office told me.

Just an FYI.  So far, its working fabulous.  Hallelujah!

  • After reading on here some stories, I expected to be fully asked to cough up $200 or something or get hassled by my insurance.  But nope!

I also noticed there was a few women who only filled 1/2 of their Rx because of the cost.  No need to do this.  I wonder why my nurse didn't know that there was a generic.  Odd...Huh?

  • Whattt!!  My co-pay for the generic was $50 for 30 pills! Without insurance the generic is like $250 for 30 pills. How many pills did you get??

  • Mine was $4 for 30 days worth so long as I fill it at Walmart.  Our insurance is through Walmart and ALL generics are $4, even the ones not on the $4 list.  Honestly people like to say Walmart has crappy benefits, but it's not true.  I love our insurance and it's CHEAP.
  • The Rx was written out for 10 pills.  We started out small in case they didn't work for me.

But when I go back to get a month's supply (hopefully all that I'll need since I'm almost 2 months) it will still be $5 for the generic.  Its per Rx not per pills/quantity, or anything like that.
