Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Speaking of Nap Time. . .

Am I the only one whose kid does not like to nap?  Today he literally napped from 8 -9:15 a.m. and has been awake (and cheerful) ever since!

On the bright side, he sleeps through the night. . . but I would really love it if he would get sleep some during the day so I can get things done around the house.

  • My DD naps some days and does not some days...  Unfortunately she is not cheerful when she isn't getting enough sleep during the day.

  • DS has always been a crappy napper. No one believed me when they'd say "sleep when the baby sleeps" and i'd say "i can't! he never sleeps!"

If he's sttn that's great! and at leas he's cheerful about being awake lol. I don't know what to really suggest though to see if you can get him to nap more. Sorry...

  • Is your baby about 3 weeks old?  He may be too young to have gotten into the routine of naptime.  My son didn't nap at all on his own until probably 6-7 weeks.  Before that he would only nap if I was holding him.  Then all of a sudden around 6 or 7 weeks, he fell asleep all by himself in his swing.  Since then, he's slowly started making it more of a daily occurance.  Usually he sleeps after his 5:30-6 AM feeding and then again after he eats around 9:30 or 10ish.  Sometimes he takes a 3rd nap in the afternoon.  It'll get better, you're LO probably just needs time.
  • He is two months old.  But maybe it's just taking him a bit longer.  He's finally now taking an evening nap.

How long does your LOsleep when he naps?

  • My son hates naps and unfortunately is very grumpy when I can't get him to nap.  So be happy that your LO is cheerful.  He may not need to sleep during the day and gets enough rest at night.
