With her *first* marriage! She was pulled away before she finished what she was saying, but I don't think she had children until her second husband, so I can only assume. . .
IF sucks, no matter how or when it happens. But I am so, so thankful to be living in 2009, and in a city that gives me access to great medical care. I know treatment isn't for everyone, and that's fine. And I know it's expensive (we're totally oop), and invasive, and it totally sucks and makes me bitter! But I'm thankful to have options.
Re: Coworker just said she TTC'd for 13 years. . .
I cannot imagine going through the IF sting for that long! I met a couple at church when I was going to a Baptism class for dd that had been trying for 10 years. I couldn't believe it! They didn't go into great detail about their issues and since they were strangers I didn't want to pry but it sounded like they had male factors. They ended up going out of state to a doctor and finally got pg (but it didn't sound like they did IVF). I cannot imagine the heartbreak some people must endure dealing with 10+ years of IF!!!

I had a great-aunt who was like a grandma to me when I was growing up. She and her husband never had kids of their own. After I started dealing with IF, I realized that they were probably not childless by choice.
It made me really grateful to live in a time of more medical innovations and options.
Yep - just talked with a coworker who was told she and her husband would not conceive without assistance. After almost 11 years she is pregnant! It just goes to show (as a former nestie and friend once said to me) "even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes."
Heck, a less than 1% chance of conceiving is still a chance!
I'm certainly not that patient, but hope our squirrel gets lucky, someday
