South Shore Stay at home moms?

Today I became a stay at home mom to my 10 month old daughter and am looking for free things to do in the South Shore area to make sure she has contact with other kids (and so we can get out of the house)! Today we went to the Braintree library for the Baby reading group and it was a blast.?

Any other suggestions??

  • That's a good start. I love taking my daughter to the town park but with the weather getting colder we won't be going much. I will be looking into the programs at the library in my town.

  • I'm home every thursday with my 14 month old son and my 17 month old niece in Holbrook---we should meet up!

  • We do a lot of mall walking in the winter.  Boring I know...but at least it gets them out.  I have a 10.5 month old little girl and a 2.5 year old little boy.

I'm kind of a germ freak, so there are a lot of things I tend to stay away from like indoor play-spaces.

Barnes & Noble at Derby St. in Hingham does story hours and they have a great train table.  Colony Place in Plymouth has family events from time to time (check the website).  Also, we just went to The Enchanted Village in Avon on Monday...both of my kids really loved it.  There's a children's museum in Weymouth and one in Easton too...not free, but pretty reasonable.

Check your local library for free/discount passes to local museums, although your daughter is still probably on the rather young side for all of that.

Oh...and I almost forgot...my son's favorite place this time of year both last year and this year...is the Christmas aisles at Lowes.  Mesmerizing!
